Power cords for Japan, North America, and Europe
You can use plugs, connectors, and cords designed to European specifications as they are, by adopting the internationally harmonized standard (Appendix 12) of the Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act of Japan to make them compliant with PSE.
In North America, an internationally harmonized standard (UL 60320) is also adopted for plugs and connectors, which allows them to be used as UL/c-UL-compliant products while they remain complaint with European specifications. On the other hand, the harmonization of North American cords is delayed and cords designed to European specifications are not UL/c-UL-compliant as they are. However, an exceptional rule applies to some cord sets, making them common for the three markets. Since this exceptional rule does not apply to individual plugs and connectors, they are divided into products common for Japan and Europe and those for North America.
VM0301, VM0303B, and VM0304B for Europe are ENEC 17 (NEMKO) certified products.
ENEC certification means a product has been certified with a safety standard (EN) by an international certification organization in Europe participating in the ENEC Agreement. A product with an ENEC mark can be distributed freely among the ENEC member nations in the European Economic Area.
